rinpin11 asked:

Would I be able to work a business related job with a mechanical engineering major? Will employers look for engineers to work a business type job? I want to be an engineer but work within the business industry, what should I do? I am already in the engineering school but I don’t really want to transfer to the business school.
Thanks for the help!

At present, every stream is somehow related to business due to day 2 day increasing globalization. If you are studying mechanical engineering, then also you will be the part of a business where you will get employment as a mechanical engineer.

Now your query is:
Will employers look for engineers to work a business type job?

Yes. Now a days a lot of employers are asking for engineering students for business type jobs like project managers, product development manager or a business analyst. For this regard they provides you training.

Now about your query:
I want to be an engineer but work within the business industry, what should I do?

You don’t need to do anything besides focusing to your engineering exams and qualify it with good grades. Employers will evaluate you on this basis also except your F2F interviews.

Ultimately, you don’t need to shift to any business school. You just move on with your current stream. But i will advise that try to focus on analyzing processes which are majorly observed for the growth of any business. This exercise will increase your managerial skills when you will be ready to join any business of company.

All the best
